Strong Girls Night Out POSTPONED

This program has been postponed. Join us for our monthly series on girls empowerment.  Middle school girls are encouraged to bring their moms  (or special female adult) along to enjoy fun fitness and team building activities, learn recipes and enjoy healthy foods together, and discuss female role models.  Please arrive at 6:30, dressed comfortably to participate in a fun outdoor fitness activity.  Each participant (moms, daughters, and leaders) should come prepared to speak briefly about their favorite female role model (it can be a celebrity, politician, a friend, a family member, a teacher, or community member and bring a picture if you’d like.) Let us know what you think makes this person a great role model. Fee: Girls $20, Bring your mom or special adult for $10 (optional). Please be sure to sign up in advance as space is limited.  To sign up, email rsvp@duxburystudentunion.com

DSU welcomes Duxbury’s own  Katie Grossman to our group of leaders in our girls empowerment curriculum. Katie, an inspirational female role model herself,  is dedicated to helping young girls learn how to live a healthy lifestyle, overcome their fitness fears and challenges, get fit for fun, set personal goals, eat healthy foods and work on the physical, social and emotional aspects of their total well being.   A native of Duxbury, Katie is entering her senior year at University of Michigan.  Her hard work and passion for rowing earned her a full scholarship at UM where she was exposed to the many challenges women athletes face.  Katie realized that even at the highest level, elite women athletes experience similar struggles as do most women with body image, inadequate nutrition, and social challenges.  Her experience fueled her newest passion to create a program that reaches elementary through middle school girls to enrich the mind, body and spirit giving them the foundation to succeed throughout life as strong women both in sports and in everyday life.

To learn more about Katie Grossman including her summer clinics for middle school girls in Duxbury, go to her web site www.katiegrossman.com Photos by David Grossman, courtesy of Katie Grossman Fitness.

We are thrilled to have Katie join our girls empowerment team along with our DHS mentors Emily Mutkowski, Kathryn Domijian, and DSU staff; Sue Bradford, Allison Berry and Amber Anderson.  August 24th is a night middle school girls will not want to miss.

Please note, our girls empowerment sessions are phone-free! Be prepared to leave your phone in the basket at the door and “be in the moment” as we enjoy the evening together.
