Dear DSU Members and Friends,
The word on the street is that January finished on a high note for the DSU and our Members, Alden through High School. Our first Freaky Friday, DHS Rock concert, Sandy's birthday, Australia Day and 6th/7th grade Black &White Dance were all very well attended events! Our Members are conceptualizing ideas, planning and most importantly, implementing. The result; well attended events enjoyed by Members and the Duxbury youth community.
Last week we celebrated Australia Day. The jelly cakes were not exactly fair dinkum (authentic) but met the pickiest palates. Members participated in a challenge to find the most words in The Land Down Under to win a kangaroo, koala or platypus. Everyone decorated their own boomerang and took them outside for a flight test!

The 6th and 7th Grade Black & White Dance committee packed the house on Friday night. It was our biggest dance yet, with tons of great dance mixes and prizes. Many thanks to Lisa Keohan, our parent volunteers and the dance committee for an awesome night! Check out our photos on Face Book by searching Duxbury Student - Union.

The DSU is headquarters for nonstop fun in February. Our 8th Grade Valentines Dance is this Friday evening. We also have Freaky Friday on the 12th and a first time vacation camp, Fist Full of Fun on February 16th and 17th for those families enjoying a "staycation" in Duxbury. Maddy Clarke and her Harmony for Haiti committee, Makai McClintock, Christina Auer, Kris Dowling, Gillian Desmarais, Luke and Ike Fontaine, are working on their coffee house style fundraiser event on Friday, February 26th from 7-10p.m. Please join them for an evening of hope, help and harmony for the people of Haiti.
As we spend the month of February sharing the love and feeling the joy, I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has shared their expertise, volunteered for events, donated items and shared feedback. The DSU is our community youth center and together, we make it an awesome and safe place for the youth of Duxbury!

DSU Fist Full of Fun Vacation Camp
Tuesday, February 16th
Wednesday, February 17th
We promise it is more than a fist full of fun but we branded it such because Rob's band for many years was Fist Full of Funk. He thinks of it as some of the best years of his life. We think of the DSU in the same way.
During School vacation, we'll be bringing together all our friends favorite activities from Freaky Fridays, Professional Day and 1/2 programs to create a vacation camp experience your child cannot get anywhere else.
There will be Mardi Gras activities (Fat Tuesday's pancake lunch) and numerous indoor and outdoor activities that include music, arts, sports, movies and non-stop action. Hours are flexible. Come all day or drop in for a 1/2 day program. The Blender Cafe will also be open for smoothies, snacks and hotdogs.
