Looking ahead to summer vacation...already, the DSU is committed to providing safe events and programs for Duxbury youth. We are currently recruiting a Summer Leadership Committee with youth of all ages to help brainstorm, create and execute fun, engaging summer events, including coffee houses, skate jams, art projects, community outreach projects, movie nights and more. So too, we are looking for adults to help direct, motivate and chaperone youth. If this is important to your family, please email me to serve on this committee. Volunteers are also needed for specific event days. Together, we can ensure a memorable summer for all!
Cheers,

The DSU is hosting its first Songwriters Circle on Friday, May 21st at 7p.m. to give aspiring young singer/songwriters a platform to showcase their talent and get feedback from music industry professionals. Songwriters Circles started in New York city and Nashville with a group of talented individuals coming together for the sole purpose of becoming better Composers, Writers, and Entertainers. Singers/songwriters, Norah Jones and Gavin DeGraw, launched their careers via the New York songwriters Circle which is now in its 19th year of operation.
Our Harmony for Haiti concert demonstrated we had a number of aspiring songwriters and so this forum was born, giving young songwriters an opportunity to present their work to fellow musicians, share their writing processes and to help one another improve their skills as composers and entertainers.
The DSU provides a relaxed atmosphere with the main purpose is to help one another and to share knowledge in order to get the most out of everyone's music. Songwriters are welcome to come and perform their own original songs and share their motivations behind their music. No mics, no sound reinforcement - just acoustic instruments and voices.
Guests are welcome to attend, Tickets are $5 at the door.
