Lost and Found

Aeropostale,

American Eagle, Adidas, North Face, Spyder. You name it, we have it. Please check our lost and found if you are missing jackets, hoodies, lunch boxes, shoes or hats.

Tennis Anyone?

Over the holiday break the DSU floors were sealed and polished. They look fabulous! We are in desperate need of old tennis balls to put on our chairs to prolong the life of the floors and prevent scratches. Please send in any unwanted tennis balls. Thank you!

Penny Drive

Sandy's penny drive is back. So far 48,700 pennies have been received. Sandy is taking suggestions from Members as to how the pennies will be used (equipment supplies and outreach activities top the list for the moment). Collection cups are available at reception and your unwanted pennies are gladly accepted.

Thank you to those Members who have already filled cups many times over!

new year

Dear DSU Members and Friends,

Happy New Year and welcome back to the DSU! I hope your holiday break was enjoyable, rejuvenating and a time to contemplate the new year.

With January well underway, our staff are currently finalizing program and event plans for February and we could really use your input.  As you know, we are closed on Fridays. Next Friday, January 15th we are offering a Freaky Friday extended afternoon from 2pm - 5pm with a number of new activities. If there is interest, we will host 1-2 Friday events in February and 1-2 days of programs over the February vacation. If you are looking for February vacation options and would consider the DSU, please click here. A minimum of 20 children (Members and Nonmembers) are needed to proceed.

Is it about time adults got to enjoy some of the action at the DSU? DSU past board chair Bob Jewell is working our annual Adult (Parents, Friends, Supporters) event for Saturday, March 6th. If you are interested in participating on the event committee (many capacities available - tickets, in kind donations, communications, volunteer management, food and beverage, etc.) please click here. If you have not yet volunteered, this a great way to fulfill your 10 hours. Planning meetings are hosted in the evenings with much of the updates done via email.

In the meantime, I wish you and your family a happy and healthy 2010.

Cheers,

P.S. Thank you for your emails and good wishes regarding my parents first ever visit to the U.S in December. Their wish of a white Christmas was granted followed by a white New Years Eve too. My dad is 67 and held snow for the first time in his life...he was a fast learner when it came to molding the perfect snowball! He also enjoyed many hours of shoveling and couldn't be happier!
