Our DSU Dance committee, Madison, Maryellen, Cammy, Clare, Louisa, Taylor, Morgan, Jay, Cam, Wes, Sean, Caleb and Jake along with Volunteer Dance Coordinator Lisa Keohan, have been hard at work planning every detail, from developing the music playlists to encouraging friends to attend. Tickets are available for purchase during lunch this week for $5 for Members and $7 for NonMembers. Tickets are limited due to the capacity of the DSU. There is no guarantee that tickets will be available at the door so we encourage purchasing tickets early.

Dear DSU Members and Friends,
What a week! Sandy's birthday had everyone celebrating her special day along with her many friendships and talents at the DSU. The birthday celebration included cupcakes, pin the tail on the donkey and many other party games.

We went from birthday celebrations to bands with the DHS Rock concert on Friday night. Five bands from Boston to Duxbury filled the night with phenomenal entertainment, including Tristan's band, This Boy's Life. Nate Files provided the professional lighting for the evening and Roman Perry's end of the night DJ set, capped off an awesome evening! All this for $5 and no need to go to Boston!

This week, we shift gears with a Black & White Dance for 6th and 7th grade. See on the left further down for more information on what the dance committee have been planning.
In program planning meetings with our Staff last year, we committed to going around the world celebrating cultures and more importantly food, starting in January.

We are kicking off January celebrating Australia Day on January 26th, the official national day of Australia. The day commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788, the hoisting of the British flag there, and the proclamation of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of Australia. Our Members will have the opportunity to make jelly cakes (recipe, click here) and decorate a boomerang. We'll see how well we can throw one outside. If your family celebrates a different heritage, we want to know about it! Send us an email and we can learn more.
We are always looking for opportunities to improve and refine our programs and events. Does the DSU meet the needs of your child after school, in the evenings and at the weekend? Is the DSU of value to your family? We want to to hear from you. Share your comments, concerns or testimonials by clicking here.

News from Nate Files, Founder and Director of WDSU.
WDSU is the new Duxbury Student Union internet radio station that gives students of all ages the opportunity to share their music, stories and personalities with the world. It has just begun and so far its a hit with students lining up to play their music and everyone else listening and loving it. We have had a wide range of students bring in their favorites from The Who to Lady Gaga. The students are getting their CDs and iPods ready for next week and so are we. We have had some technical difficulties but we are all working to improve the station.
In the weeks to come we will be broadcasting 24/7 and creating some feature programs for Members to get more involved with like news, weather and upcoming events. The station is great for giving DSU Members a creative outlet but also communicating to the rest of the community.
Stay tuned in and check in with us to connect to the news stream of info, music and events! We are on Facebook, and Twitter and anytime we are in the studio you can chat with us on AIM and Skype. For any question, comments or ideas you can email us!
