Dear Members and Families,

Trends, fads and technology move at lightning speed for the youth of today. In many ways it forces the DSU to look at every event and program with a fresh perspective, what could we do better, how can we innovate?

sevies danceThe Sevies Saturday Night Fever dance last weekend is a good example of innovation. DJ Tristan Cary installed a laser in the ceiling projecting neon shapes all over the floor. A video camera also in the ceiling rafters was connected to the projector. During the dance, when music videos were not playing, the camera panned the crowd. It was like being at a concert or professional sports event. Seriously, who doesn't like to see themselves in real time.... on the big screen?  For photos of recent DSU events, click here.

Despite the rainy weather, Fist Full of Fun camp was a lot of fun today with tie-dying of t-shirts, decorating Halloween Treat bags, knee hockey, game room challenges & Benchwarmers Pizza. Alden friends also enjoyed making JibJab Halloween videos. Click here for guaranteed laughs!

Fist Full of Fun camp returns tomorrow. A few spots are still available to Alden and Chandler students. Participants are welcome to bring their skateboard and a helmet if the weather cooperates.

Feathers for Fallen Heroes

This Friday, October 21st, the DSU is excited to support DMS 7th graders Isabelle Pilon and Seton Swiderski for the Feathers for Fallen Heroes event from 3pm - 5pm at the DSU. Get a fashionable feather or two in your hair and make a donation to the Lt. Timothy Steele family foundation.

The DSU is committed to pursuing programs and events in the field of entertainment, television, film and stage. Through our connections with industry experts, some DSU members have been extras in films and auditioned for commercials. If someone in your family (child or adult) is serious about television and film, it is highly recommended they attend a special open call on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 5:00pm - 6:30pm at the DSU with Model Club Inc., a top local agency, representing talent for the Boston and NY markets. Please bring three headshots (they do not need to be professional photos) for Model Club to keep. Free to members, $15 for nonmembers.

Model Club Talent agent, Chelsea Gibson will explain what it's like to work in the New England market, what Model Club expects of their talent and what an agent can do for you.  Candidates will have the opportunity to fill out an application and meet individually to be considered for a contract with the agency.  A Question & Answer session will follow. All applications will be reviewed by the Model Club team and will receive an email if Model Club would like to proceed. Visit www.modelclubinc.com to learn more. Please click here to register.
