| This past weekend, families at the Island Creek Oyster Festival enjoyed the DSUMMER KIDS ZONE (photos attached) with over 4,000 sq. ft of non stop fun. Children of all ages enjoyed meeting new ocean friends and releasing them back into their environment, decorating oyster shells, making sand art and Haiti bracelets, face painting, temporary tattoos, ring toss games and more. Outside the tent, kids enjoyed DSU's wacky interpretation of The Amazing Race with physical challenges, mental roadblock challenges and kid approved food challenges (seagull surprise, seaweed slurp, Duxbury mudflats and of course, Island Creek Oysters). Definitely Duxbury at its best, save the date for next year for great family fun.

| Dear DSU Members, Families and Friends,
The DSU fosters a culture of giving back almost every day and we are very fortunate Members and their families make giving back part of their family priorities too.
November is a big month. We have raised the stakes and are asking Members and their families to help reach our goals with the following:-
1. The Duxbury Interfaith Council needs our help for their Thanksgiving baskets. Brownies (fresh or frozen) can be baked and dropped off by November 18. The boxed mix is fine...Sandy supervised 3rd grade campers yesterday and the finished product was delicious. Easy enough for children to make with adult supervision. The DIC also needs 120 boxes of breakfast cereal of all kinds. Check out the Cereal box tower at the DSU and add your contribution to it.

We enjoyed our first field trip to the Jimmy Fund's Scooper Bowl in Boston last Tuesday. Over 60 kids enjoyed 38 different flavors from nine icecream makers and broke records for the most scoops consumed...and thankfully digested! This field trip was an absolutely glorious day out thanks to our awesome young people and caring adults - Staff Members, Sandy and Rob, Board Chair, Laura Smith, our Treasurer, Terri Woodward, Parents Lisa Keohan and Elena Zongrone and DHS students Nora Serres, Ike Fontaine and Luke Fontaine. While the icecream is a major attraction for all, everyone benefits from the work of the Jimmy Fund with critical medical research happening right here in Boston hospitals and teaching institutions. Our goal is to make this an annual event for the DSU.

| Congratulations to five caring teens, Maddy Clark, Christina Auer, Luke & Ike Fontaine and Kris Dowling for creating Harmony for Haiti to inspire Duxbury to give to the people of Haiti . The lyrics..."We are the world, we are the children, we are the ones who make a brighter day so let's start giving" was mobilized. Teens from north of Boston to Plymouth came together on Friday night at the DSU to do exactly that. No auditions, no studio time, these teens came together to simply sing their hearts out for the people of Duxbury and to inspire every day citizens to give to the people of Haiti.
And give they did. $1,738 raised for Partners In Health. The entire evening, guests were treated to original music & songs, artwork & jewelry; all prepared by our talented young people. From the Harmony for Haiti graphics created by 2004 DHS graduate, Jess Horton, to jewelry made by Christina Auer and bags made by Maddy Clark. As well, many musicians writing and performing their own songs with such passion and courage. The most awe inspiring moment came when eight bands came together, completely spontaneously for the finale to perform CREAM's song Crossroads. It was so perfect, bands from all genres adding their individuality to a classic song. Cameras, video cameras and cell phones were flashing with excitement. It was an unbelievable finish to a phenomenal evening! Harmony for Haiti returns this summer to continue the DSU commitment to Partners in Health and the people of Haiti.
